Letter writer wants armed police at county meetings
Date of First Publication 1-30-2013
OSSIPEE — An anonymous letter sent to county commissioners is requesting an armed police officer to attend all meetings held at the county administration building because of the presence of armed citizens at those meetings. But one man says the letter is an “attack” on the Second Amendment rights.
Commission chair David Sorensen read the letter aloud at Wednesday’s meeting. The letter was sent from an Effingham resident whose name was redacted with a black bar. Copies of the letter appeared on the commissioners’ desks.
